Rail Gun

Rail guns are enhanced slug throwers that rocket a solid projectile down a magnetically charged tube. While they are relatively cheap to build, the missile, once launched retains it's trajectory and can be easily avoided. However, the solid matter projectile carries enough kinetic power to be significantly destructive. Ship mounted rail guns can fire enough kinetic rounds, to reduce a planet's surface to abosolute rubble...
